ActivateAX

Product Information

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 requires users to click to activate embedded controls/applets (such as Java applets, Flash and ActiveX controls) since April 2006. This can lead to an annoying experience for users.

To resolve this issue, you can use an external javascript to load individual controls as detailed here. For large websites with many pages, it may be impractical to do so. ActivateAX is a JavaScript that provides a quick and convenient solution.

 

Installation Instructions

  1. Upload activateAX.js to your web server.
  2. Add the code to load activateAX.js between the <head> and </head> tags. For example,

    <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="activateAX.js"></script>
    </head>

  3. Edit the values in the src parameter.
        src: the location and name of the JavaScript file to load

 

Other Issues

Important Note

Sometimes, when the embedded controls/applets load slower than ActivateAX script, then ActivateAX will fail. The result is a graceful degradation, and the web page will perform normally as if ActivateAX is never added. But after the first page load, the same page will perform fine, as all the controls are stored in browser cache.

If you experience problems configuring the product, you could consult our Technical Support online or send us an email describing the problem, together with the URL of the web page or an attachment of the necessary files. All the files should be placed in a zip file to facilitate easy retrieval.
